Michigan QB Jack Kennedy, WR Joe Reynolds unveil song to be played at home opener vs. Air Force

By Kyle Meinke

There could be a new soundtrack for the Michigan football team this season.

Wolverines reserve quarterback Jack Kennedy and receiver Joe Reynolds, who record music under the name "JDK and Rey," have released their latest track "Hundred Level" -- and it features a performance by the Michigan Marching Band.

Kennedy and Reynolds said on Twitter the song will be played at Michigan Stadium this season. That includes for the home opener Sept. 8 against Air Force.

The players also have released two other songs. "Kenny's Anthem" is inspired by linebacker Kenny Demens, and "Away" includes a video that features cameos by current players. (Including star quarterback Denard Robinson, who is shown riding a skateboard, shoes untied.)

Last year, Michigan's unofficial anthem was "In The Big House," performed by Muskegon's Pop Evil. Highlight videos were set to the tune, which was often played before, during and after games.

Could the Wolverines feature two of their own players this year?

It appears, at least to a degree, the answer is yes.

It's pretty nice that these guys can walk on at Michigan and make the team, study at the M, and have time to make music. Well rounded guys.

I dont talk about it here, but in real life I am a professional musician and produce/engineer music. These guys have a good contemporary sound down. If I could give them one piece of advice it would be to keep going, keep polishing their sound. Its a bit rough now but they have potential as they mature as artists. It is a fantastic break for them to be able to have their song played for over 100,000 people.

Steve, thanks for the post. Good stuff. And I totally agree with you. Their music is a little rough around the edges, but the talent is there. You can hear it. A little work, and they could be excellent, in my opinion. At any rate, I think it's cool Michigan is going this route. Much prefer them to recognize their own, as opposed to contracting out for their theme music (like 'In the Big House')

Nothing unique about their sound. It sounds like every other "artist" out there.

Good post Steve..... Young people need to be encouraged to work at the things they enjoy and may have some talent for. Unforetunately, most will not give that support because they are jealous it seems. I hope they take your advice and keep working at their craft. Thank you for your bit of professionalism in this world full of synical critics. I know these young men would, and do appreaciate it. You will have to over look my lack of grammar and spelling skills, but I think you will get my point. Have a good day, everybody......

It is very good to see some of the other talents a few of the football player may have. For one, I look forward to this display at the Big House soon.
