Michigan vs. Notre Dame is seventh-highest priced ticket of the college football season

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Still hoping to pick up a ticket for the Michigan vs. Notre Dame football game on Sept. 10? If you’re using the secondary market, expect to pay top dollar.

According to a report by CNBC sports business reporter Darren Rovell, the first night game in Michigan Stadium history is the seventh-highest priced ticket of the entire college football season.

Using data provided by TiqIQ that was aggregated from ticket sellers like StubHub, eBay and TicketNetwork, the average ticket list price for a Michigan-Notre Dame ticket is $457.07.

Sticker shock? According to the report, that’s not even the most in-demand ticket in the Big Ten (Ohio State at Nebraska: $462.97) or on Notre Dame’s schedule (USC at ND: $509.48).

The highest price tag for the 2011 season: $560.23 for the Cowboys Classic, a season-opening game between LSU and Oregon to be played Sept. 3 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Start saving now. Michigan will open its 2012 season against Alabama in the Cowboys Classic.

When will there be an announcement about getting tix for that Alabama game in Texas? For that matter, I'm still waiting on UVA to announce how to get tix for the ACC challenge when Michigan comes to Charlottesville. Go Blue. Throttle the wine and cheese snobs in C'Vlle.

And then there's the University of Arizona in Tucson where I live ... a billboard advertises "Wildcat Season Tickets ... starting at $100". For the season.
