More links to Brady Hoke-to-Michigan coverage around the Internet

By Rich Rezler

So you've read all of AnnArbor.com's exhaustive coverage and visited all the usual national sports sites, regional news outlets and fan blogs in a bleary-eyed attempt to consume as much Brady Hoke material as possible.

(Before we go any further ... you have read all of our coverage, right? Check this compilation to be sure.)

Of course, we have more stories in the works. But to satiate you in the meantime, we've scoured the Internet for some off-the-beaten path coverage of Michigan's new football coach you may have missed:

Are there other stories you've come across that you'd like to share? Email a link to richrezler@annarbor.com and we'll update this file.

• Rob Oller, a sports reporter for The Columbus Dispatch, says Hoke is "the spit to Jim Tressell's shine, a more stereotypical rah-rah football coach than the CEO of a program."

• Doug Lesmerises of the Cleveland Plain Dealer offers: Often in the Big Ten, the best football hires aren't the biggest names.

• The Toledo Blade, which sits right in the center of the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry, writes about Hoke's take on the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry.

• Former Ann Arbor News columnist Jim Carty did some work for the New York Times, covering the press conference and writing a blog post that includes some comments from former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr.

• The National Football Post opines that the marriage of Hoke and Michigan came together by necessity. And it may, in fact, even end up working.

• A Michigan Man? ESPN.com's Thomas Neumann has a different (and somewhat tongue-in-cheek) take: Hoke will win at Michigan because he's a San Diego State man.

• The San Diego Union-Tribune notes that Hoke didn't thank San Diego State or its players in his Michigan press conference ... and commenters on the site didn't like that much.

• Rob Parker, writing for WDIV's ClickOnDetroit, says the hiring of Hoke "was both safe and sorry."

• ChicagoNow.com, after poking a little fun at Hoke's girth, writes Michigan did exactly the opposite of what they did when they hired Rich Rodriguez.

• The Dayton Journal-Herald, a newspaper that Hoke used to deliver as a boy, writes that local friends and family are excited for the new Michigan coach.

• The Ball State Daily News says that letting Hoke head to San Diego State has haunted the Cardinals' program.

• Finally, some links to video reports on the hiring from The Associated Press, Fox Sports, WUPW in Toledo and WOOD TV in Grand Rapids.

Lawrence, ya I hear ya this whole thing already stinks especially after the way they treated RR. If I was young and inexperianced this debacle would probably surprise me. I've been around and seen this kind of underhanded crap before. There a lot of kids on this site that just like 3 years ago their buying into the crap the gods are handing them. Bottom line, we've got Brady Hoke for better or worse. He says the right things but after the last 3 years some of these kids still haven't learned, it's not what you say it's what you do. I hope the man does well contrary to what some of these kids think my thoughts are. I don't have to like a coach to love the Wolverines but I do respect the position of coach and I really do think he appears to be an okay guy, time will tell. Some folks think I am irritated because RR got fired. The fact is, personally I didn't know RR so I can't judge him on a personal level, what I liked about RR was what he was trying to do for us and that to me was be competitive on a national level and not just good in the big ten. I think we're back to that LLoyd Carr style of football and I really do hope this new coach proves me wrong. Brady Hoke seems okay at first impression, now let's see if coach Hoke can coach em up.

Just read that Miles was offered 3 million with the intent of him rejecting it. They just did it to satisfy fans and alumni. Also that Hoke was already assembling his staff last week. This tells me its all LCarr behind the scenes. The more I read the more it makes me sick how michigan runs things. MILES is a much better hire. On top of that they waste all those weeks of recruiting. What an insult to offer that to miles when they know that he makes nearly. 4 million. Good luck in 3 yrs if Hoke chokes having Miles come back home when he stated that he ready to finish in AA his career. What a joke the michigan administration is.. Hoke will be as good as his assistants. Let's see how they do hiring a DC. Go Hoke, go blue.

All you haters be hatin. I'm truly amazed and disgusted. Yall destroyed one man, and barely gave him a realistic chance. Now ya attack the new man we brought in to appease. I feel sick. I have never posted till Wednesday. I have just read every sentence of the bile that has been spewed. If you do not genuinely & sincerely bleed maize & blue, then go post somewhere else. I know this is an 'open' forum. But some people don't deserve that freedom. THIS SITE IS A GO BLUE SITE. If you don't support that ideal, then move north or move south. Cheer green or cheer red. But us REAL fans...THE VICTORS... are tryin to fix what yall destroyed. GO BLUE NO MATTER WHAT! HAIL ALL YOU HATERS! Remember when we finally rebuild this mess, you will have NO space.

Wow, that Rob Parker piece is some of the worst commentary I've ever read. I guess that's why he's writing for something called ClickOnDetroit. As for Drew Sharp at the "Freep" (lol) I still don't understand how that dude has a job.
