Nebraska to wear alternate football uniform this season, could it be vs. Michigan?

Nebraska plans to wear an alternate uniform for one home football game this season, according to The Associated Press, though athletic director Tom Osborne says the design won't diverge much from the Cornhuskers' traditional look.

Could the Huskers stray from tradition during their Oct. 27 game against Michigan?
Nebraska has a seven-game home schedule. Considering the school would likely save the alternate uniforms for a marquee game, that seems to eliminate Southern Miss, Arkansas State, Idaho State and Minnesota.
That leaves three home games: Sept. 29 vs. Wisconsin, Michigan and Nov. 10 against Penn State.
Osborne said Adidas, the Huskers' apparel and footwear provider since 1995, proposed changing the color of the helmets. Osborne said the white helmet with the iconic red "N'' would not be touched.
But Monday afternoon, the AP received an email from his secretary: "Tom did some further checking and he can't say definitively that the helmets will stay white," she wrote.
The Huskers' uniforms have changed little over the decades. There was a mini uproar in 2002 when piping were added to the jerseys — white on the red home jerseys, red on the white road tops. The stripes were gone the next year.
Replica 1962 uniforms were worn against Louisiana-Lafayette in 2009 to commemorate the 300th consecutive home sellout.
Osborne, who coached the Huskers to 255 wins and three national championships from 1973-1997, said tradition is important to fans. Uniform outfitters like to come up with different looks because it gives them an opportunity to sell more merchandise.
"It does seem to appeal to the student-athletes. Most older fans don't get overly excited about it," he said. "We're walking a fine line because we are traditional, but we also recognize the fact that we don't have to stay the same all the time."

Enough with these stupid obsessions with fashion and aren't we all men after all? Osborne, go to NY to attend a fashion show and leave the football part to real men.

I think Brady should go to that same fashion show with Tom and leave our traditional uniforms alone and that means get rid of the numbers on the winged helmets. I liked the Mich. helmets when they were called Winged helmets not winged helmets with numbers.

Well with the spiffy new unis, perhaps Babraska will only lose by 3.5 TDS to Michigan this upcoming season. Have only have one incident of the red-faced-screaming-liar-bucknut coach of Babraska accusing Michigan of faking injuries instead of two times. That would be an improvement wouldnt it?

Good ole' Wally the Wolverine, I've read a lot of your comments and you don't seem too Wolverinish to me, nice try though. Who really is your team, come on fess up. Anyway, I'm sure it'll be between M and Wisc, I'll guess it will be U-M, now that's marquee, especially this upcoming season, Go Blue!

Think whatever you want, I'm doing what we all do here - rendering an opinion. Wisky is heavily favored to win their division again and possibly the B1G - especially with the QB transfer from Maryland. But because I voice something that the networks already know, it somehow makes me less "Wolverinish"? At least I'm secure enough in my fandom to admit when another team is the class of the league until we or somebody else proves otherwise. I'm sorry if this offends you. I love my alma mater and it's athletic programs. Your attempt to somehow discredit me does help explain why many outside Ann Arbor hold a tainted view of the UM faithful.

Lets face it, aside from corn, corn-husking and fairly good football teams, Nebraskans don't get much to talk about. Nebraka's uniforms always look like they were designed by the couple depicted in Grant Wood's painting, American Gothic. Iconic yes, but not in a good way.

Let's hope NE changes unis for the Wisc game since both schools are red and white. I have got Michigan in for three new unis, which is one fourth of the schedule.

Nebraska uniforms remind me of some of the best football teams college football has ever seen.
