Mike, what's with your twitter comments about the game? either people are watching it, or gamecasting it.. whats the point? Nothing you are saying is adding ANYTHING to the commentary.. just wondering..

Michigan State is clearly better than Notre Dame and Michigan. And Wisconsin. On both sides of the ball. All U of M has going for them is a 1-man offense. You guaranteed a close game? Whoops. You guys are delusional about your football inferiority. Wake up, man.

Yelmonian, what's the point of your comment? Mine was that beating an annually overranked Wisconsin team doesn't mean squat. I didn't mention a thing about Michigan. Michigan has gaping holes on defense. So what? MSU has struggled on offense and defense in the first four games this year, with a schedule that is arguably easier than Michigan's. All I've been reading about this week is how good MSU is because they beat who? Wisconsin? Please...

Aftermac, So instead we should gauge the greatness of UM by... UConn, ND, UMASS, Bowling Green, and Indiana? What is your point of your comment?

Randy, Out of curiousity... how is MSU's schedule as played so far... half of that of UM's. UM.... UCONN (Big East is awful), ND, UMASS, Bowling Green, and Indiana MSU... WMU, FAU, ND, Northern Colorado, and Wisconsin Really, where is the half... each have a MAC opponent, each have ND, each have a lesser division opponent... MSU had Wisconsin instead of Indiana... No matter how much you say Wisconsin is bad, Indiana is worse. I'll give you UConn is better than FAU, but not by much... So where is this huge discrepancy so far?

Guaging the strength of your football program based on a win over Wisconsin is pretty laughable. Winconsin was ranked #9 when Michigan beat them in 2008. We all know what happened that year...

The best thing about this game for Michigan is that the world including MSU is infatuated with Denard and just holding their breath for a flame out. Little regard for the rest of the team. This game indeed is a turning point for the Blue team and Deanard will not have to carry it all this time. There are backs and recievers galore that run great in the open field better than almost anybody except a couple for the Green team. The defenses will become indistinct gravity to the offenses and the game will be a simple matter of possessions and which offense makes the least mistakes. The wolverines, although seemingly outmatched in all respects on paper, (except for Denard) are the most disciplined and best coached team and will do their jobs with confidence and play toe to toe much to the surprise of the Spartans. I agree with the prediction of MSU losing by four much like Indiana except they'll be close enough at the end to throw it out the back. PS TruBlu76 Go ahead and stick your neck out and let's hear a prediction- 1, 2 or 3? GO BLUE!

Not a great analysis. Here are the three things that everyone is missing: First, Wisconsin is overrated. If you look at Wisky's Sagarin ratings they are ranked 33 rather than in the top 25 which I think by the end of this year will prove much more accurate. Secondly, Sparty has a very easy schedule- roughly 1/2 as difficult as Michigan's. Third, Michigan beat Notre Dame at Notre Dame while Sparty beat Notre Dame in overtime with a trick play at home. Michigan should be a 4.5 favorite and likely wins by 2 touchdowns if play calling isn't too conservative once Michigan has a lead.

It's great that U-M is 5-0 and should be headed to a bowl game for the first time under RR unless they totally tank for the rest of the year. On a side note, I watched the movie 'Groundhog Day' last night and it made me think of last year for U-M and how I hope 2010 is not an exact repeat of the 2009 nightmare. In my heart, U-M will win this one by two TDs. My objective analytical side thinks that if Denard doesn't get hurt and has a typical good game, it will be a close U-M victory (something like 31-28) because the U-M offense is hard to stop and we have home field advantage. However, if Denard gets hurt or if MSU is able to somehow contain and fluster him, it could be a MSU blowout of 38-21 or something like that. Nevertheless, I'm going with my heart. Go Blue!

Let's not forget that the U of M defense is very unexperienced, 7 frosh on the field at 1 point against Indiana. They will get a little better each game, 18/19 year olds can grow leaps and bounds with a little confidance. The offense at times hurts the defense, by scoring so quickly they have barely had time to catch a breath, Ind was a perfect example. In the end I think that the athletic ability of DRob, Shaw, Roundtree, etc. will be too much. The defense will get a few stops and Michigan wins this game by 11. 45-34 U of M.

tru2blu, I hope it is #3 on your list. I have been a,fan for over 50 years and I love this O. I hope the D wakes up and RR does have his breakout year. With a good D we could be unstopable. GO BLUE!

This is an epic battle of 2 programs which have gone in completely different directions in the past 3 years. On one had, you have the Spartans...a very well coached, disciplined, hard hitting team that while may not possess elite talent or elite speed, always come out and give you their best shot and are usually competitive. Michigan, on the other hand, is more free-wheeling, less disciplined or well coached...a mishmash of recruits that actually made it through admissions and on to the field... lead by one singular star and a bunch of role players on offense.... and a defense that is truly dreadful and seemingly without a valid scheme or discipline in fundamentals.... So will it be old skool force and will vs. new skool finesse and star power? probably.... MSU 47 UM 35
