1984 Who had to endure 3 years of whom at Michigan? Historically speaking he was the WCiMFH! As far as somewhere else, I hope that team has a web site so anyone can follow him, if they wish. But, since this is a Michigan football site, how would someone justify how the team was coached over the last 3 games?

So let me see if I understand you, (difficult at best) You don't like RR because of his win loss and his character did not please you but you adore Brady who hasn't coached a down at Mich. as head coach and you are bragging about these average at best kids that he has personally recruited. Man, your easy to please. Lord help Mich. football.

Rich Rodriguez deserves nothing but the best. It's a shame some of our fanbase refuse -- even today -- to cut the guy some slack. If you were real Michigan fans you'd act with a little class. Such a shame Rich Rod had to endure 3 years of these kinds of Michigan fans. Brady Hoke would have to go 73 - 34 (W/L) in order to just match Coach Rod's wins / loss record as a head coach. That's about 9 - 4 every year for the next 8 years and it assumes Coach Rod doesn't coach again. Brady Hoke would be 60 by the time those 8 years are up. Rich Rodriguez would only be 3 years older than Brady Hoke is right now. Something tells me when it's all said and done Rich Rodriguez will be looked at -- historically -- as the better head coach (all things considered - not just Michigan).

Agree, agree and agree. Look 1984 Daffy Duck could be coaching right now and the ones that hated RR before he coached his first game would support Daffy Duck. What else can they say after degrading RR for 3 years plus. It's obvious I mean coach Hoke hasn't coached a down as head coach at Mich. and these kids talk about him like he's the second coming of Christ makes no sense, or does it?

1984 ... let's wait 3 years and then compare the records at Michigan ... something tells me that RR will fall well short of what BH is going to do.

We don't know about his ability to recrute he was able to find the diamond in the ruff with Denard. However when you look at this years list I question where he was headed. We might want to watch just to see what makes him tick. The five star picks are no question full of talent but can they make it a Michigan. I would prefer a kid with a 4.0 GPA with talent and the right size for the position and those folks show up at 3 star all the time. See what he has to say and if it matches where he was headed with this program. Go Blue!

Funny how we can give John Beilein four years or more to turn around the basketball program because it took Mike Krzyzewski as many years to build up Duke, the same with Bo Ryan at Wisconsin or Tubby Smith at Minnesota BUT Michigan had to dispose of their football coach because he couldn't get it done in three years.

So Theo212 will be the play by play announcer so he can heap further praise upon RR, eh. Seems RR is taking a page out of Millen's playbook. GO BLUE!

Step one in Rich Rod trying to rebuild his rep. Go check out Stew Mandel's article the other day on cnnsi about former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach and other coaches who have to rebound hard vs. their unsavory reps that they may or may not have earned at their schools before departing. Its a zero sum game for administrators looking to hire new coaches and they cant take a chance on a coach with any sort of baggage these days.... Good luck in RR in rebuilding his character rep, it shouldnt be too hard...at least he didnt lock a player in a dark, hot closet or anything like that.

RR didn't do himself any favors when he tried to legally challenge the buyout in his contract with WVU (his alma mater), and it was shown that his argument was shown to be based on fabrications. That combined with the violations at UM and possible ones at WVU, plus the losing record ... he has alot to overcome.

I agree on the violations portage but they are what they are....and university presidents and ADs will have to take a strong look at that before they consider RR.... perception IS reality and no school wants to hire any candidate with taint... time will heal all of that though... the NCAA is major hypocracy we all know that... Auburn and tUOS get away with paying players and dont even get sanctioned....the Vest and tUOS has the most 'self reported' violations in the NCAA in his tenure....and what do they get? slap on the wrist and no probation... it stinks but it is what it is... unfortunately

Anyone on this site commits by far worse violations than RR did in one day of your life. As far as investigations go it's a continuing investigation which means as of this moment he, RR is not Guilty of anything. No, my opinion is that RR is a good coach in the right place as with any coach and when he starts looking for a coaching job (should wait 1 year) RR will be fine. The violations RR allowed to take place were stupid on his part but many schools will see those violations as mistakes due to enthusiasm for the upcoming season. Ya, RR will land on his feet the other question is will Brady Hoke and Michigan?

NCAA violations and a continuing investigation at WVU wont sit well with potential suitors for RR... neither will the massive losing and terrible defense. So he does have some things to overcome...and btw I always thought he was very charming too. He will do well on TV.

No he didn't did he? In fact his biggest crime was his lack of charm which the current coach is not lacking hope this new coach can head coach in the big 10 as well as he can charm. If he can we should have a terrific coach.

Even though he is unproven on the big stage competitively, is just makes sense that a guy with the (un)ethical reputation of Rodriguez would end up on the SEC's flagship network.

you gotta admit, it is kinda funny. while I am sure RR is a great guy, I just don't know how many people will think he is a credible commentator on any speical teams, kickers or defensive recruits.......lol
