Rosters taking shape for Braylon Edwards' charity basketball game
Former Michigan football players Mike Hart, Marlin Jackson and Steve Breaston will take part in Braylon Edwards' charity basketball game scheduled for April 15 at Pioneer High School.
According to a release from the Braylon Edwards Foundation, confirmed players also include NFL players Ryan Mundy (Pittsburgh Steelers), Britt Davis (Denver Broncos), Vernon Gholston (New York Jets), Willis McGahee (Baltimore Ravens), Sam Shields (Green Bay Packers), Devin Thomas (New York Giants) and Dre Bly. Former Michigan basketball player Jimmy King will also participate.
The game -- touted as a "5 on 5 grudge match game of basketball featuring former Michigan teammates, current NFL players, retired legends and celebrities" -- will also include a $10,000 half-court shot contest at halftime, a silent auction and a 50-50 raffle. Concessions will be sponsored by Top Chef contestant Eve Aranoff's restaurant, Frita Badito.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the game tips off at 7:30 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will go to the University of Michigan's A. Alfred Taubman Medical Research Institute to fund ALS research.
