By Michael Rothstein

Six Michigan varsity teams are in the top 10 percent of their sports in the latest release of the Academic Progress Rate by the NCAA.

The Wolverines’ marquee sports, football and men’s basketball, were not among them.

Baseball, men’s golf, men’s gymnastics, men’s tennis, women’s basketball and women’s tennis were all in the top 10 percent of the multiyear APR by the NCAA.

Six Michigan sports were also in the top 10 percent a year ago, including four repeat teams: men’s golf, men’s tennis, women’s basketball and women’s tennis.

In all, 909 teams were in the top 10 percent.

The full APR report will be released May 24.
