ANN ARBOR (AP) — A person with knowledge of the NCAA's ruling in a case against the Michigan football program says the governing body's final decision will be released Thursday.

And Joe Schad at ESPN.com is reporting that a "source close to the situation" says the NCAA concluded that Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez did not fail to promote an atmosphere of compliance, the key point that Michigan fought the NCAA on.

The Associated Press source, who spoke Wednesday on condition of anonymity because no one is permitted to comment on the case until NCAA announces its ruling, says the school is "very happy" with the final outcome.

Michigan challenged an allegation that Rodriguez failed to promote an atmosphere of compliance when school officials spoke to the NCAA Committee on Infractions in August. The school accepted responsibility for four other allegations regarding practice and training time.

Tater, Rosenberg lied, exaggerated, and made up "facts" about UM football? That sounds just like you and a couple other of the RR kool-aid drinkers.

"So, basically, this is going to prove what many of us were saying all along: RR didn't cheat, and the "violations" were not even close to being what the Freep said they were." I need two or three fat, juicy rationalizations just to make it through the day.

More predictions from Lorain Steelman "...after Michigan upsets OSU, the coaches and the AP will notice the stark improvement in this Michigan squad and both will unanimously vote Michigan #1. Michigan will go on to play Oregon in the National Championship game, and will devastate the Ducks 1200-0. The Ducks, having been annihilated, will give up playing football opting to become a performing arts troupe. Afterward, the NCAA will release its report and finds that Coach Rod was in complete compliance. In fact, it is found that the self-imposed "penalties" were just an attempt to give the Michigan team a few extra hours a week to study and volunteer for various charities. Meanwhile, after being crowned Coach of the year for 2010 AND 2011, Coach Rod is invited to Washington to fix the economy. He appoints Denard Robinson as Head of the Federal Reserve. D-Rob does a 90-yard TD-run Debt Reversal, so to speak, on China and within days the auto industry is fixed, the economy is booming and China is begging to borrow money from us. Troy Woolfolk's leg is miraculously healed, and he surprises the world by "intercepting" Osama Bin Laden, putting an end to the global war on terror. With such success the United Nations appoints Coach Rod as Supreme Ruler and King, and within weeks, Coach Rod uses his unique offensive scheme to create a Utopian society across the globe. The Heisman Trophy is renamed the Robinson Trophy, and Michigan goes on to win the National Championship every year until the end of time. Finis.

I'm just glad that RR's job will be decided ON THE FIELD, as it should be, and not by the NCAA.

I have a question for those of you who support RR. Why do you feel that UM deserves all of the negative things RR has caused since he has been at the University? I, for one, believe that UM deserves the same success within the first 2 to 3 years of hiring the new coaches as Alabama, the Puke-eyes, Nebraska, Florida, Ga and more that I can't think of right now have enjoyed. The University and all of THE PLAYERS do not deserve to suffer through the "product" this man has brought us though his lack of coaching ability, his so-so at best recruiting, and even worse, the total embarassment of the NCAA investigation. A NC every year? No one has ever done that, so no. A B10 Championship every year? No coach has ever done that, so no. A highly competive team that is run cleanly and not being looked at by the NCAA? I'll take that in a heart beat because it means we have a coach who knows HOW to coach, he recruits very well and keeps the NCAA off of the University grounds!! In case you need help, RR fits NONE of those criteria!!! Kubrick....WELL SAID and congrats to Jon!!

By the way, it's that "RR will finish 9-3" type of out of touch with reality rambling that makes many of RR's supporters so hard to take seriously at times. In case you missed it, OSU is a far more complete team and will present an even more hostile environment than PSU, which dominated us, did. But, because an RR supporter, probably one of the same ones who said RR would be bringing us a National Championship by year 3 (note: we haven't even won a STATE championship yet), we are to believe it and if we don't we're haters. By the way, what year will RR's NC be now? Year 4? Or has it moved back to year 5? Maybe year 6 when Gardner is our QB? Maybe year 10, when Tressel, Ferentz, Dantonio, and Pellini retire? Ugh. It never ends.

I hope Michigan does win out... I'll be rooting for them until the final tick on the clock... But that won't change anything for RR. He can't save himself with wins. It's past that. It's all about perception, respect, and dignity-- and RR has robbed the Michigan Football program of all of the above.

Lorain, you may be right about RR keeping his job and firing Robinson, any maybe even some of the wins...but winning them all, including @ OSU...not happening. And if by some miracle it does happen, I'll be the first to admit I was wrong. Will you if it doesn't?

The NCAA will say that UM has satisfied their QC requirements, and the procedures put in place should correct any deficiencies. Saturaday UM will beat Illinois, then travel to Purdue, and beat the Boliers, then come home and beat Wisconsin, and finally upsert osu at the end of the season. RR will finish 9-3. After the season RR will fire Robinson, and all of the defensive assistants.

Could it be that the university is "very happy" due to the fact that they will have a valid reason to cancel someone's contract?

@ SteveinClearwater This is great news, actually. This signals the end of one of the uglier chapters in Michigan football history, and, happily, it doesn't sound like the NCAA is going to slap Michigan with additional penalties. I don't see how this article is propaganda against Michigan. I've been waiting for this day to come (or to pass) all season.

This should be interesting. Can't wait until tomorrow. Somewhere Dandy Don Meredith is looking down on RR and singing... "Turn out the lights, the party's over..." In other news... Former Wolverine Jon Runyan is elected to congress! Where's the story AA.com! Former Wolverine goes to jail! Former wolverine arrested! And now a former Wolverine is elected to congress and there's no story to be found! Shame, shame AA.com!

Agreed. If the NCAA accepted Michigan's recommendations, it makes it just a bit easier for the next head coach who will be hired at the end of this season. Less of a mess for him (Hopefully Harbaugh) to worry about.

This is super fantastic news. I hope they did not give us any further sanctions.
