The Michigan football team got mixed news on the recruiting trail Wednesday morning, securing defensive tackle Terry Talbott as part of its 2010 class, but losing safety Sean Parker to Washington.

Talbott, who originally committed to Michigan in August, faxed his binding letter of intent to the Wolverines early Wednesday, Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne coach Jay Minton said. Talbott visited North Carolina last month and was undecided on his final choice as of "about 7:30, 7:45 this morning," Minton said.

Terrence Talbott, Terry’s younger brother, also signed with the Wolverines.

Parker, ranked the No. 49 player in the country according to ESPN.com, announced his decision on ESPNU, picking Washington over Michigan and USC.

“You got to dig in deep within your heart and go with what your heart says,” Parker said in his press conference

Michigan entered Wednesday with 26 verbal commitments, including the Talbotts, but lost out on two defensive backs recently. Along with Parker, safety Rashad Knight picked Rutgers over Michigan earlier this week.

Another safety, Demar Dorsey, is scheduled to announce his college decision between Florida State, USC and Michigan later today. Dorsey is the cousin of Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson.

Rivals.com national recruiting editor Jeremy Crabtree said earlier this week Michigan’s class ranking wouldn’t change much depending on what if any late commitments they added.

“A safety isn’t going to make or break a class,” Crabtree said. “It could be one of those things that if they reel in one of these guys down the stretch it’d be like the cherry on top of the ice cream sundae.”
