Texas isn't talking to the Big Ten; Maurice Clarett case scheduled for April

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Texas is happy with its place in the Big 12 and the Longhorns haven't talked to Big Ten officials about their expansion plans, the school's athletic director said Wednesday.

DeLoss Dodds spoke with The Associated Press after recent speculation that the Longhorns program could be courted by the Big Ten, which is considering expanding.

Dodds said Texas would be a natural target for any league because of the school's strong academics, athletics and the power to draw a large television audience. But Texas and the Big 12 are good for each other, Dodds said, adding "It's working. I like it."

Here's the complete story from The Associated Press.

I don't often agree with Drew Sharp, but his mid-Feb article about inviting Texas, Texas A&M, and Missouri to form the Big 14 would be a brilliant move. The fit academically and athletically is a beautiful thing. The geographical expansion of the Big 10 will position it to become the first SuperConference. I also agree with Bo, "To Hell with Notre Dame!"

I think Texas would fit just fine.
