Anthony Carter, Desmond Howard and Jon Jansen -- three former Michigan football players who spent time on the Detroit Lions' roster -- will be among 14 players honored at a Hall of Fame induction ceremony hosted by the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund in Novi on Friday.

The Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund helps former NFL players and their families deal with hardships after their careers end. The hall of fame induction celebrates the players' "fabulous careers on the field and the equally outstanding deeds off the field."

More than 60 NFL players -- including fellow inductees Gale Sayers, Dexter Bussey, Gail Cogdill, Dorne Dibble, George Guerre, Dick LeBeau, Herman Moore, Pat Studstill, Tommy Watkins and Sam Williams -- are expected to attend the dinner, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Suburban Collection Showplace.

Former NFL player Kyle Turley, commentator/analyst Roy Firestone and Detroit Lions' play-by-play man Mark Champion will speak during the dinner. Tickets cost $125 per person or $1,100 per table of ten. Email gridirongreats313@gmail.com or call Mark at (248) 444-2241 for ticket information.

Many of those players will be available for a fundraising autograph session from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday in the same location. The times and cost of each players' autograph session is available on www.detroitcitysports.com.

The GGAF has provided over $2.5 million in financial aid and medical assistance to retired NFL players.
