Tom Harmon's emphatic pledge to Fritz Crisler

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Greg Dooley at mvictors.com specializes in digging up nuggets of historical information about the Michigan football team. Today, he's unearthed a copy of the information sheet that Michigan legend Tom Harmon completed for Fritz Crisler prior to the 1939 season.

Crisler inserted something like a loyalty pledge into the information sheet that asked players: "Do you honestly think you can make ever sacrifice necessary to put yourself in the best physical condition, the best mental condition, the best spiritual condition to produce the best that is in you for each game."

Great article, lets put this on a sign, banner for the players..... I was a little frightened reading the first paragraph...the headline said 'Fritz Chrisler', then went on to say - "...specializes in digging up nuggets..." and....."he's unearthed"......whew, I'm glad I stayed with the article - a great message to everyone of all ages.....Great job.....

Tom Harmon was an icon. Tom Harmon was a good example of a Michigan Wolverine football player for past, present and future Wolverines.
