Denard Robinson powers Michigan to 30-10 lead against UConn

Michigan 30, UConn 10: Vincent Smith scored on an 11-yard pass from Denard Robinson. Robinson also had a 43-yard pass play to Terrence Robinson in the 89-yard drive.

Record crowd: The announced attendance is 113,090, the largest crowd at Michigan Stadium ... or at any football ever.

Third quarter

Robinson sits out two plays: Denard Robinson was injured late in the third quarter and left the field for Michigan's final series. Freshman Devin Gardner filled in for two snaps. Robinson returned for the start of the fourth quarter.

Big play: UConn, on a fourth-and-1 play on the Michigan 6-yard line, loses a fumble when D.J. Shoemate is stripped by J.T. Floyd. Michigan's Obi Ezeh recovers the ball and advances it to the Michigan 11-yard line.

Michigan 24, UConn 10: Brendan Gibbons kicked a 24-yard field goal, capping a 74-yard, 19-play drive. Denard Robinson set a Michigan record for most yards rushing in a game by a quarterback. He has 22 carries for 155 yards, surpassing the 147 yards on four carries Steve Smith had for the Wolverines on Nov. 12, 1983 at Minnesota.

Halftime stat of note: Michigan has 15 first downs and 259 yards of offense and UConn has eight first downs and 189 yards of offense.

Michigan 21, UConn 10: Running back Jordan Todman scored on a 3-yard run, pulling the Huskies within 11 points just before halftime. UConn covered 77 yards in 10 plays, including a 37-yard, bobbled-three-times reception by Michael Smith.

Michigan 21, UConn 3: Dave Teggart's 32-yard field goal puts the Huskies on the scoreboard. UConn went 48 yards in 12 plays.

Michigan 21, UConn 0: Junior running back Michael Shaw gives Michigan a three-touchdown lead, running in from 3 yards out. Michigan went 38 yards in eight plays. Shaw has rushed 10 times for 47 yards.

First quarter
First-quarter key stat: Michigan has 198 total yards of offense and Connecticut has 57.

Michigan 14, UConn 0: Quarterback Denard Robinson rushed 32 yards to finish off a 77-yard drive. Robinson has 105 yards rushing and is averaging 11.7 yards per carry.

Michigan 7, UConn 0: Vincent Smith scores on 12-yard run, capping a 96-yard, 14-play drive. Robinson rushed six times for 58 yards on the drive and was 2-for-2 passing for 23 yards.

On UConn's next series, Cam Gordon blocked Dave Teggart's attempt at a 40-yard field goal.

First series: Denard Robinson is Michigan's starting quarterback and his first series is at the Michigan 2-yard line after a 66-yard punt by UConn.

Pregame: There's plenty of bottled water, the renovations to Michigan Stadium are complete and the Michigan football team is facing UConn today. The game is under way, with Michigan kicking off to the Huskies.

Sophomore Denard Robinson is listed No. 1 at quarterback in the pregame depth chart, freshman Devin Gardner is second and sophomore Tate Forcier is third. Sophomore Vincent Smith gets the start at running back.

Stadium rededication ceremony under way, with voice of longtime television announcer Keith Jackson welcoming fans to a "bigger Big House."
