Wisconsin's Peter Konz says David Molk's criticism doesn't bother him, 'cause I'm sexy and I know it'

By Kyle Meinke

Former Michigan football captain David Molk recently said he thinks he is the NFL draft's top center — and that included Wisconsin's Peter Konz, who is the consensus top prospect at the position.

Konz brushed off the remarks artfully in an interview with WISC-TV in Madison, Wis.

"That's OK — Taylor Swift said, 'People throw rocks at things that shine,'" Konz told the station Wednesday. "As far as I know, everybody likes me ... 'cause I'm sexy and I know it."

Molk falls somewhere between third and fifth at center according to most analysts, despite winning the Rimington Trophy last year as the nation's top player at that position. His height could be an issue for some teams, after measuring 6-foot-1 at the NFL Scouting Combine.

But he told AnnArbor.com it's "uninformed" to rank Konz ahead of him, citing his own four-year body of work and Konz's struggles in the bench press at the combine.

"No doubt about it," he added. "I have skills he doesn’t have. Obviously, my strength is far better, I’m faster, I would say I’m smarter. Obviously, he’s an intelligent person, I’ve talked to him, but I just think I have a technique that’s unmatched (by him)."

Molk also said he believes he is a better player than Ohio State center Mike Brewster, who responded by tweeting that Molk should "keep my name out of your mouth."

Brewster, like Konz, later said he's moving on.

"It's that time of year when guys say what they want to say, and that's fine," Brewster told The Detroit News. "I'm not going to retaliate in the media. It is what it is. He said what he said, and I wish him the best. I'm just worried about myself and my pro day and see where I go in the draft."

Konz is also incredibly weak for a BT starting center... and thanks to his Combine performance...we all know that as well. Molk smokes Konz on all levels and will have a FAR greater NFL career. Mark it down.

Hard to knock Konz when he anchored a potent running attack for the conference champion. I suspect this is the same lens the NFL is looking through.

Molk is doing his sales pitch...hey, it is positioning for a higher draft pick...money. i would do the same thing if I was the best center in college football. He definitely has confidence, and up to this point he can say what he feels because he has backed it up on the field, and the bench!

He needs to be humble and am sure he & his agent are involved in that scheme to make Molk more attractive in the draftboard
