University of Michigan football coach Rich Rodriguez thinks the Big Ten deeper than Big East

It's been one season for Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez since he left the Big East for the Big Ten. And the difference that stood out the most is the depth of his new conference.

"Probably the quality of depth in our league, now, is a little bit stronger at certain positions," Rodriguez said. "And more established from a tradition standpoint."

The former West Virginia coach, though, was quick to defend his former league. He said when the Big East had Miami, Virginia Tech and Boston College, it was perhaps stronger than the Big Ten.

"It changed over time," Rodriguez said.

Later on Monday, he also said he felt ESPN, by putting the Big East on network television so much, helped "save the Big East."

You pretty much have to take for truth whatever Coach Rodriguez says. He has gained the respect of those at the University of Michigan and elsewhere. Last year, of course, was tough. He has now righted the ship and will win the Big 10 this year.

Does not every league have established "quality" depth tradition? Idiot.

Im sure weve all seen the power rankings amongst bcs confrences, the one where the big ten and the big east were tied for last place. The big ten is not as of now the power confrence it once was. Itll be back. As soon as Rich Rod gets the ball rolling and perfects this system (and wins a nat'l championship) while rolling over the big ten the way every other speed team does it will force the big ten to adjust and once the rest of the schools catch up the star athletes will come back to the big ten. Our recruiting classes will only be getting better.
