Sports Briefs: Vada Murray Fund to host Michigan-Ohio state viewing party at Michigan Theater; Ann Arbor Marathon set for June 9

Registration to the event is free, and can be done at vadamurray.com.

Proceeds from the event benefit cancer research at the University of Michigan Health System, with a focus on lung cancer.

Doors open at 10 a.m., two hours before kickoff. Activities include pre-game music, complimentary food and children’s activities.

The event will also include a raffle, with items including a signed Miguel Cabrera picture and baseball, a signed Nicklas Lidstrom jersey, television, Michigan football jersey and more.

Ann Arbor Marathon June 9

The 2013 Ann Arbor Marathon will be held Sunday, June 9, event organizers announced this week.

Registration for the race starts Dec. 1. For those who register in the first month, the cost is $80 for the marathon, $60 for the half marathon, $24 for the 5K and $10 for the 1.2 mile run.

Anyone who competes in the Dexter-Ann Arbor run, set for the weekend before, will receive $5 off their marathon entry fee.

The Ann Arbor Marathon, in its second year, benefits the Ann Arbor Public School Foundation.
