ESPN.com's Adam Rittenberg has this short dispatch from Big Ten media day about the conference's coaches favoring a longer regular season in order to stay fresh for postseason games.

He notes some teams are scheduling games beyond the end of the conference schedule, such as Wisconsin putting Hawaii on the slate for Dec. 5, 2009.
