Try these prize-winning Doughnut Delights for a Chanukkah indulgence

If celebrating Chanukkah grants a girl permission to eat fried foods, then bring on the doughnuts! Now to you, these adorable little treats might look like simple doughnut holes drizzled with chocolate and sprinkled with coconut; but to me, they have much more significance. Let me tell you a story....

Provolone Fritto con Marinara is the perfect crispy, gooey dish to celebrate Chanukkah

Tonight is the second night of Chanukkah, and I could have happily served latkes (potato pancakes) — I adore them! Reuben latkes is a non-traditional version of classic Chanukkah dish

Chanukkah, one of my very favorite holidays, begins at sundown tonight. It brings beautiful candlelight from the menorah, as well as permission to eat fried foods without (too much) guilt! During the eight days of Chanukkah, Jews celebrate "the miracle of the oil," when a mere one day's worth of ...

Eating a salad on the 8th night of Chanukkah

Tonight is the last night of Chanukkah, and I've indulged in fried foods, dairy products, and even -- in the case of the Ricotta Doughnuts -- fried dairy products. It's been a week of feasting, and I've enjoyed myself immensely! But the time has come to engage in some penance. ...

Eating orange cake on the 7th night of Chanukkah

Chanukkah is almost over -- tomorrow is the last night -- and yet there are so many more celebratory foods to enjoy! Eating doughnuts on the 6th night of Chanukkah

It's difficult not to be seduced by Chanukkah, as it grants permission to indulge in fried foods -- so taboo now! -- as a way to celebrate the miracle of 1 day's worth of consecrated oil having lasted for 8 days after the Maccabees overthrew the army of Antiochus IV ...

Eating pasta on the 4th night of Chanukkah

Today I offer a very simple and classic Italian recipe which features both of the culinary traditions of Chanukkah: oil and dairy. It was passed along to me by -- of all people! -- my ex-husband, who occasionally tries to win me over through my love of old family recipes. ...
