Former Michigan basketball player DeShawn Sims was named on Friday the NBA Development League Rookie of the Year. Sims, playing for the Maine Red Claws, led all rookies by averaging 20.3 points a game, fourth-best overall in the league. Sims played at Michigan from 2007-2010.

Former Michigan basketball forward DeShawn Sims is heading to camp. "I got invited to Celtics training camp," Sims said in a text message Tuesday. It is the latest stop on Sims' attempt to find a professional home after not being selected in June's two-round NBA Draft.

Former Michigan forward DeShawn Sims saved his best game for his final game in Portsmouth. Sims, a 6-foot-8 forward playing for the Portsmouth Sports Club, scored a team-high 21 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had two steals.
