Remember using a magnifying glass to start fires as a kid? That was the same basic principle that started an eight-acre grass fire off Textile Road just north of the Ford Rawsonville plant Wednesday afternoon, according to Lt. Keith Harr of the Ypsilanti Township Fire Department.

Fire damages garage in Ypsilanti Township

A fire caused heavy damage to a detached garage in Ypsilanti Township Sunday afternoon. The fire was reported at 12:40 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Eugene Street. Firefighters were at the scene for about two hours, said Captain Dave Crescio of the Ypsilanti Township Fire Department.
