Large winged insect found near American Harley Davidson on Jackson Road in Scio Township
By Edward Vielmetti
This giant bug is almost certainly a Dobsonfly (Corydalus cornutus). It was found at American Harley Davidson on Jackson Road, near Honey Creek in Scio Township.

Two questions for the entomologists out there.
Is this identification correct? I'm pretty sure it's a Dobsonfly, based on the size and the location.
What does this mean for fly fishing?

My guess also was a sphinx moth, also known as "hummingbird moths" since they hover over flowers in a similar way and are nearly the same size as a hummer.

I am no bug expert, but my hunch is that this is not an aquatic insect at all, but is actually an emerging Cecropia (hyalophora cecropia) moth.
