Ann Arbor-area Thursday newsstand review for January 14

By Edward Vielmetti

ANN ARBOR - Today I took every local daily, weekly, monthly, biweekly, and semi-monthly publication I could find, sorted them all together, and put together a big bundle.  The stack was quite thick.

Here's a roundup for Thursday, January 14, of what's in print; note I'm not including AnnArbor.com in this roundup.

Ann Arbor Family Press Jan. 2010.  Photo: Cute kid with skis (uncredited).  Reviews: Decadent Delight, Bagger Dave's.  Family fitness guide.

Edward Vielmetti used to go to Olsen News in Ishpeming to buy out-of-town newspapers, candy and hot nuts.  You can find him trundling down the street with a bundle of paper heading toward his window-lined office at 301 E. Liberty St in Ann Arbor.

If youre going to include Metro Times and Real Detroit, why not throw in headlines from The Saline Reporter, Milan News-Leader, The Manchester Enterprise, The Chelsea Standard, The Dexter Leader and The Ypsilanti Courier? They are more local, reporting news throughout Washtenaw County, including stories out of Ann Arbor.

This is a great story. Tios used to have a Latino-oriented publication on its newsstand. Wonder if that is still around.
