Widespread intermittent power outages reported this morning

Residents across Ann Arbor and Dexter Township reported a widespread but brief power outage this morning between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. The "blip" was enough to cause clocks and answering machines to reset. There were no reports of damage to equipment.

The following power outage reports were received via Twitter. Some reported times are approximate.

  • Pauline and Seventh, 7:40 a.m.
  • University of Michigan Central Campus, about 7:00 a.m.
  • Golden and Brooklyn, 7:20 a.m.
  • South Main Street near Michigan Stadium, about 7:00 a.m.
  • West side of Ann Arbor, about 7:00 a.m.
  • Dexter Township, about 7:00 a.m.
  • Further information on this outage has been requested from DTE Energy Media Relations.

    thanks for the info. this explains why my computer showed only an hour uptime when i woke up this morning. apparently it rebooted. no problem but it caused me some network security anxiety.
