Leo's Coney Island faces lawsuit from Chicago franchisee
Michigan-based Leo's Coney Island, which has several restaurants in Washtenaw County, faces a lawsuit from a Chicago franchisee who is accusing the company of failing to provide enough corporate support, according to the Detroit News.
Leo's, which has restaurants in Saline, Ypsilanti and Pittsfield Township, was sued in Circuit Court of Cook County, Ill.
The suit alleges that "Leo's lack of guidance on a major issue such as kitchen procurement and design, caused undue financial hardships and led to many mistakes in the build out of the kitchen," the News reported.
Leo's Coney Island has 16 corporately owned restaurants and 25 restaurants owned by franchisees.

I am guessing you have zero experience int he restaurant industry. Let me clear this up for you as simplyt as possible. The kitchen is the place where ALL the food is prepared. When you are in the business of selling food, the kitchen has EVERYTHING to do with it. It is an area that unlike the front of the house (dining area) can not provide revenue. Think of it like a retail outlet. The back room is the area where you stock overstock and other merch, but you want that area to be as small as possible so you have more SELLING area. I can not imagine anything more important to the successful operation of a franchised restaurant other than marketing.

Well, dading, I think a kitchen is an important part of a restaurant. What am I missing?

What does the kitchen have to do with what? That is part of the lawsuit! That Leo's did not provide what they had agreed to provide. And one of those things they allegedly agreed to provide was "kitchen procurement and design." Therefore the Chicago franchisee incurred "undue financial hardships" Clear enough to me.
