Agent leaves Prudential Snyder to form Ann Arbor commercial real estate brokerage

By Lizzy Alfs

Jon Gordon, a real estate agent in the Ann Arbor area, recently formed his own real estate brokerage firm that specializes in the sale and leasing of commercial property.

Gordon formed Gordon Real Estate in early September, after working with Prudential Snyder & Company Realtors and Edward Surovell Realtors.

His brokerage firm will specialize in office and retail leasing and sales.

Gordon said his passion for commercial real estate started when he was a general manager of Jacobson’s department stores.

He was part of the team that sold the old Jacobson’s building in downtown Ann Arbor - which later became the former Borders flagship store.

Then, as an employee with Edward Surovell Realtors, Gordon helped to spearhead the formation of the company’s commercial department, he said.

And although the commercial real estate market in Ann Arbor is competitive, Gordon said he thinks there’s a “niche” in the market for Gordon Real Estate.

“There are some very respectable firms and very respectable brokers that have dominated the industry in the Ann Arbor market for many years,” he said.

“Having been successful on my own in the past as the primary lead with Edward Surovell Realtors, and having maintained a steady core of clients over the years,” Gordon continued, “I feel pretty confident there’s a niche out there for me.”
