New Ypsilanti Township restaurant Spirits plans 'hiring blitz'

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Spirits Restaurant & Lounge, a new Ypsilanti Township restaurant, is launching a "hiring blitz" Tuesday and Wednesday, about one month before the restaurant expects to open.

The new restaurant, which will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. starting Nov. 23, is located at 2111 Rawsonville Road near I-94 in the former Lone Star Steakhouse.

The restaurant, which has a Belleville mailing address, is welcoming job applicants from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 25 and Oct. 26.

Spirits, owned by D'Wayne Turner, "will use seasonal ingredients from our surrounding farms and markets to create traditional Native American and modern American dishes," according to a news release.

"Our spirited hospitality, culinary excellence, and knowledgeable service will be the focus to our success. We are creating a comfortable environment where guests can experience simple meals with complex flavor profiles."

Spirits is currently seeking approval from the state of Michigan to sell liquor at the restaurant.

I have my doubts of this place making it a year. If he can get a A2 folks to come there then he will be set, but the isn't much money there and there are already three or four fast food chains there. If people are hungry I doubt they will pass on the cheap food and go to native American. I will try it too. Now Friday night in A2 one can expect to wait an hour before getting a table at the fave restaurants. If they want to drive 15 minutes they will find a seat right away .

Pretty odd concept for Rawsonville, which is pretty much chain city, but hey, if he can make it and hire people, more power to him. I'll give it a try.

A native american themed bar and grill. Sigh. That's in good taste....

Survival will be difficult in that location. I've seen plenty of businesses come and go from there. Good luck.

"Plenty of businesses"? What has been there besides Shoney's and Lone Star?

This is great! I was wondering what was going on with this afterhearing about the initial plans a while ago. I hope they can soon fashion a web site with a menus (with prices). I'm anxious to see what they'll offer.
