Paparazzi: Washtenaw Contractors Association names winners of Pyramid Awards
The Washtenaw Contractors Association announced the winners of its 14th annual PYRAMID Awards March 11 before a group of the county's leading contractors, architects, construction project owners and labor leaders.

Each of these awards represents exceptional effort in the areas of teamwork, service or innovation. The winners were selected by an independent jury composed of industry experts in Nebraska and Iowa. The winners of the 2011 PYRAMID Awards are provided below.
Best Project Team - Projects under $3 Million
Camp Michigania Dining Hall - Dismantling & recycling of old structure and construction of a new improved “green” facility (Boyne City, Mich.).
Architect: Lindhout Associates (Brighton)
Contractor: Spence Brothers (Saginaw)
Owner: University of Michigan Alumni Association (Boyne City)
Best Project Team - Projects between $3 Million & $25 Million
EMU Indoor Athletic Practice Facility - Construction of 86,000-square-foot, inflated dome structure that is secured by 3 million pounds of concrete (Ypsilanti).
Architect: BEI & Associates (Detroit)
Contractor: Turner Construction Co. (Detroit)
Owner: Eastern Michigan University (Ypsilanti)

Best Subcontractor Under $500,000 went to Acoustic Ceiling & Tile of Ann Arbor. Garrett Wickham of ACP accepts the award.
Best Project Team - Projects over $25 Million Uof M Football Stadium Expansion and Renovation - Expansion of the “Big House” to add suites, club seats and improved spectator and media facilities (Ann Arbor).
Architect: HNTB (Kansas City, Mo.)
Contractor: Barton Malow Co. (Detroit)
Owner: University of Michigan (Ann Arbor)
Best Subcontractor Award - Contracts under $500,000
Acoustic Ceiling & Partition (Ann Arbor) for the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Chapel Addition and Renovation (Ypsilanti) - Metal framing, partitions & bulkheads, ceilings and acoustical dome.
Best Subcontractor Award - Contracts over $500,000
Dee Cramer (Holly) for the Saginaw Valley State University Health Sciences Building (Saginaw) - sheet metal work; BIM and 3D modeling for automatic clash detection.
Best Innovation
Leidal & Hart Mason Contractors (Livonia) for the University of Michigan Football Stadium Expansion & Renovation - Innovative design of prefabricated arches utilized throughout the exterior of the stadium.
