Priceline co-founder to unveil Startup Michigan initiative at Ann Arbor entrepreneurship event
Priceline.com co-founder Scott Case will address a group of more than 1,000 entrepreneurs and business people Tuesday in Ann Arbor.
Case, CEO of Startup America Partnership, is the featured speaker at the Annual Collaboration for Entrepreneurship event at Skyline High School.
The event — which includes panels, networking time and a business pitch competition — will take place from 2-9 p.m. Registration is required.
Case's talk corresponds with the launch of an initiative called Startup Michigan, which organizers described in a news release as an effort to bring "together Michigan entrepreneurs and organizations to provide access to resources and networks to accelerate the growth of the state’s business startups."
“We are delighted to have Scott, an icon for entrepreneurism in the U.S., help us launch Startup Michigan at this event, where we gather each year to celebrate the success of our innovators and entrepreneurs," said Diane Durance, executive director of the Great Lakes Entrepreneur’s Quest, which is the coordinating Startup Michigan, in a statement.
Other speakers at the ACE event include Kalyan Handique, a founder of University of Michigan startup HandyLab, which was sold for $275 million to Becton, Dickinson and Co. in 2009. Handique now leads startup DeNovo Sciences.
