Proposed Saline fishing tackle business seeks special use approval
Your Bobbers Down Inc., a new business planned in Saline, is seeking a special use to open a retail outlet in a space at 1400 E. Michigan Ave. in the Sauk Trail Business Park.
Jamie Olson, the business owner, has requested the special use for about 15 percent or 360 square feet of the space he’s leasing.
The owner would like to offer retail sales of fishing tackle and merchandise in a building.
Gary Roubal, the Planning Commission liaison and city engineer, said in his review of the request, “By filling a vacancy at 1400 E. Michigan Ave., they are an improvement to the local economy and will increase business diversity.”
His analysis of the application states the business will create tax revenue and attract new visitors to the community.
The space was previously occupied by Trans Western Publishing and is near North Eastern Uniforms, American Soy and Storage Pros Self Store.
City staff is recommending the approval of the request, and the Planning Commission will discuss the proposal Wednesday night and send its recommendation to the City Council.
The Planning Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. in Saline City Hall in the council chambers.

The business is already in that space and open for business. So is this 'special use' permit for something other than just retail sales?

Republicans will definitely oppose the little guy trying to establish a new business unless there's a lump of gold in it for them.

Really ? do you mean like all the Republicans that constantly give business the runaround like in Ann Arbor ?. Hold it I just found out that Ann Arbor is run and controlled by Democrats so it must be a different reason in A 2

Article is of interest; but what is the 'Special' use? Fish? Retail? Water tank? Does everything require a 'Special' use by the zoning commsion? Headline & content don't match.
