A new CD coming out Tuesday showcases some of the great musicians who play in Ann Arbor — and benefits the Michigan Theater at the same time.

"Live From Studio A2, Vol. 2" collects some of the best musical performances recorded by radio station Ann Arbor's 107one (WQKL, 107.1-FM), both in concert and in studio. The new release follows last year's "Vol. 1," and, like that disc, net proceeds benefit the Michigan Theater, Ann Arbor's beloved home for alternative movies and first-rate concerts.

To kick off the CD release, 107one morning host and AnnArbor.com columnist Martin Bandyke will do his Tuesday show live from the downtown Borders Books and Music store, 612 E. Liberty St. The store will open at 7 a.m. that day.

The event will feature live music from Jen Sygit and Sam Corbin, whose song "My Sweet Angeline" is on the new CD. Their live set is expected to start around 8 a.m. The disc will be on sale at the event, of course, and will also continue to be available exclusively at Borders stores in Ann Arbor (downtown, Arborland and Waters Place on Lohr Road), Brighton, Canton and Novi. The disc costs $12.99, but some combination packages of both "Vol. 1" and "Vol. 2" will be available for $20.

The disc offers a nice mix of established (and locally beloved) artists like the Indigo Girls, John Hiatt and They Might Be Giants; and rising acts like Joe Pug and Brett Dennen.
