Ann Arbor Street Fair seeking work for 2012 Kids' Art Fair

By AnnArbor.com Staff

The Ann Arbor Street Art Fair is calling young artists from Washtenaw County, in 3rd-8th grade, to submit their artwork to be juried for the 2012 Kids’ Art Fair held at the Townie Street Party—the kick-off event for the 2012 Art Fair.

The Kids’ Art Fair is a unique opportunity for young artists to sell their original artwork and interact with the community at the Townie Street Party. In addition, this is a great chance for young artists to see the jury process at work, and to interact with arts educators on a one-on-one basis. The young artists receive individual attention by the jurors, and the positive feedback is often empowering.

Jurying will take place at the Ann Arbor District Library’s Pittsfield Branch on Sunday, April 29 from 2-5 p.m; Wednesday, May 2 from 5-7 p.m.; and Sunday, May 6 from 2-5 p.m. (Artists in 3rd-8th grade should arrive with 4-6 samples of their original artwork and be prepared to talk to jurors). You need to attend only one of these three sessions. Artists will have ample opportunity to show and discuss their art work with jurors.

Young artists invited to exhibit at the Kids’ Art Fair will be notified by email or phone the week following the third jury session. These artists will be able to sell their work under a large tent at the July 16th Townie Street Party, which takes place on Washington, between Thayer and Fletcher and on Ingalls Mall.

The Ann Arbor District Library, Pittsfield Branch is located at 2359 Oak Valley Drive. For more information on this event please call 734-994-5260 or visit www.artfair.org.
