ArtPrize, the phenomenally successful public-art competition in Grand Rapids, opens today for its fourth year—and once again, a number of Washtenaw County artists are participating.

This year, more than 1,500 entries are on display at 161 venues. As always, public voting on the entries is part of the fun; the event runs through Oct. 7. Jeffrey Kaczmarek of MLive / The Grand Rapids Press has put together an excellent introduction to the event, including several links with more information.

Check out the ArtPrize website for even more—and if you head to Grand Rapids, watch for these Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti artists who are participating (for more information on each artist's work and its location, see the artist page on the ArtPrize website):

You can add Katie Halton of Ann Arbor to the Ann Arbor + Ypsilanti artists exhibiting at ArtPrize.

Thanks. I went by a spreadsheet of artists sent out by ArtPrize, but it turns out there are about a half-dozen local folks who are listed on the website that were missing from the spreadsheet. I've added all of those now.

This looks really good! You would think that Ann Arbor would have come up with the ArtPrize idea?
