Aziz Ansari

The Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase has scored a coup: A one-night appearance by red-hot comic Aziz Ansari.

Ansari — costar of the NBC sitcom "Parks and Recreation" as well as a major name on the stand-up circuit — comes to the Showcase on Monday, June 20 for two shows, at 7:00 and 9:30 p.m.

In addition to Ansari's appearance, the showcase also announced a one-night apperance by Doug Benson on June 23.

Ansari plays Tom Haverford on "Parks and Recreation," and in the past he starred on MTV's "Human Giant" and costarred on latter episodes of "Scrubs." His movie credits include "Funny People" and "Get Him to the Greek," as well as the upcoming "30 Minutes or Less," filmed in Grand Rapids.

His stand-up was featured on the CD/DVD "Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening," released last year.

TIckets for the Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase appearances are $22. They go on sale May 13 via the Showcase website or by phone at 734-996-9080.

Ansari has been to Ann Arbor before, and in fact has gone on the record about his love of Zingerman's.

Benson, meanwhile, is probably best known for his documentary spoof movie "Super High Me." He has been on countless comedy stand-up shows on TV, including appearances on Comedy Central, HBO and more.

Advance tickets for Benson are $17 and available now. Tickets will be $19 at the door, if available.
