Originally From Kansas, I have lived in Ann Arbor since 1989. I have a degree in classical history and a master's in library science and worked in pizza houses, oil fields and academic libraries before becoming a bookseller. Two colleagues and I started Motte & Bailey Booksellers in 2000, and so far we're still going strong.

I am a so-so frisbee player, a lover of posters, and an avid reader in the history of books, printing, and libraries, focusing on the history of bookshops around the world and the destruction of libraries in various periods. I still believe open bookshops have a place in the world.
