Darren Criss and Team Starkid's 'Starship' now available online

Team Starkid — a troupe of recent U-M drama and musical theater grads (including “Glee” star Darren Criss) that has created original musicals that have become online sensations (“A Very Potter Musical,” “A Very Potter Sequel,” and “My and My D***”) — premiered a new stage musical called “Starship,” with music and lyrics by Criss, in Chicago earlier this year. (The book is by Starkid artists Matt Lang, Nick Lang, Brian Holden, and Joe Walker.)
Just recently, the show, in its entirety, became available online (in 20 video segments) at Team Starkid's site.
Check out the show’s opening segment below.
Taking a page from the Tony Award-winning musical “Avenue Q,” “Starship” features several actors using puppets to bring giant bug characters to life. Set in the future, on a planet inhabited by giant insects, “Starship” focuses on a character named Bug who’s long been fascinated by the human race. When a starship full of colonizing humans arrives on his own planet, Bug finds both love and adventure.
Many of "Starship"'s stars will be familiar to “Very Potter” fans (including Joey Richter, Julia Albain, Britney Coleman, Joe Moses, Dylan Saunders, and Lauren Lopez), and according to a Chicago Sun Times article about the show’s development, the seed for the show was reportedly planted when Walker suggested a musical parody of Robert Heinlein's “Starship Troopers” to Criss.
In addition to the online availability of the show, the “Starship” soundtrack is now available on iTunes (and just debuted at number one on Billboard's Top Cast Albums chart), while “Starship” merchandise and DVDs are available through the Ann Arbor T-shirt Company website.
