MLive statewide entertainment reporter John Gonzalez and his brother-in-burgers David Kutzko hit the road over a week ago on the quest to find Michigan's Best Burger. After logging 1,700 miles and sampling burgers at 33 restaurants across the state — including three in the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti area — Gonzo is ready to reveal his top 10, plus a handful of superlatives.

Ann Arbor's Blimpy Burger clocks in at number 10. Gonzo clearly loved the ceremony involved in the ordering process, and raves: "The whole experience is unmatched and worth the adventure."

Ypsilanti's Sidetrack Bar & Grill got an honorable mention as a destination for the best onion rings, and the restaurant's massive and delicious strawberry shortcake got a special call out.

Gonzo was also enamored of The Wurst Bar, lauding the restaurant for a creative approach to burgers - especially the Wurst and Mr. Peanut burgers.

You can read the full list on the MLive site.

@Billy, I concur. Not sure how Red Coat Tavern didn't make the list, they make a burger with Piedmontese beef.

Wow....ok there you go.....his #1 burger that he picked.....uses GFS meat....and he even talks it up.... Now I've ordered and used ground beef in a commercial setting from GFS, Van Erdan, and Sofo.......they all have some of the lowest grade meat I've ever seen compared to buying from a butcher...it's also WAAAAAY cheaper than sourcing locally. So yeah....I didn't even waste time reading the rest of his article, much less looking at the whole list. Sigh....I was kinda looking forward to this too.
