LECTURE

The Penny Stamps Lecture Series will host Ayse Birsel at the Michigan Theater on Thursday. 5 p.m. Birsel's designs are combinations of contrasting points of view. Like her homeland, Turkey where thoroughly modern ideas and practices exist side-by-side with centuries-old structures and customs, Birsel's designs make everything work. Free. Comedian Bil Dwyer will perform at the Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase. Today at 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Dwyer is an accomplished standup comic whose resume also includes acting, hosting and writing.
