LECTURE

Comedian Bil Dwyer will be at the Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase this week with performances tonight, Friday and Saturday.

The Penny Stamps Lecture Series will host Ayse Birsel at the Michigan Theater on Thursday. 5 p.m. Birsel's designs are combinations of contrasting points of view. Like her homeland, Turkey where thoroughly modern ideas and practices exist side-by-side with centuries-old structures and customs, Birsel's designs make everything work. Free. COMEDY

Comedian Bil Dwyer will perform at the Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase. Today at 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Dwyer is an accomplished standup comic whose resume also includes acting, hosting and writing. Since his last visit to Ann Arbor, you've seen him as a recurring character on "Hot in Cleveland" with Betty White. Thursday: $10/ in advance; $12/ at the door. FILM

There will be a "Film Viewing and Discussion" of the film "Traffic" at Angell Hall on the U-M campus. 7 to 10 p.m. The film will be introduced by Melvyn Levitsky of the Ford School of Public Policy. The film stars Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Benicio del Toro, and Don Cheadle. In Auditorium A at 435 S. State St., Ann Arbor.
