Do you like scary movies—that were filmed in Ann Arbor, Plymouth, Northville, Livonia, and Dearborn?

Then you’re in luck: Wes Craven’s “Scream 4” is being released on DVD on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Though the first three films in the juggernaut horror/comedy series each scored more than $100 million at the box office, “Scream 4” earned just $38.2 million domestically (more than $80 million worldwide), and critical reception seemed to be of the “love it or hate it” variety. (The film scored 58 percent on RottenTomatoes.com.)

Original series stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette all resumed their roles in “Scream 4,” while a phalanx of young actors - Emma Roberts, Rory Culkin, Hayden Panettiere, Alison Brie, Nico Tortorella, and Marielle Jaffe, among others - introduced a new crop of characters to the franchise.

In “Scream 4”—set 10 years after the events that transpired in “Scream 3”—Sydney Prescott (Campbell) is on a book tour to promote her bestselling memoir/self-help book, and to this end, she makes a stop in her hometown of Woodsboro. Her appearance inspires a new Ghostface killer to start offing young locals, and Sydney finds herself in an all-too-familiar nightmare once again.

“Scream 4” was filmed during the summer of 2010, and not only can downtown Plymouth be seen early on in the film, but two houses in the Burns Park neighborhood play a prominent role. Local actors Wayne David Parker and John Lepard appear briefly, as do Detroit news anchors Devin Scillian and Glenda Lewis.

"Scream 4" had a budget of $40 million, aided by the Michigan film tax incentives.

And despite “Scream 4”’s disappointing box office performance, recent reports quote Wes Craven saying that there will likely be a “Scream 5.”

Craven told MovieWeb.com, “The odds are that there will be (a 'Scream 5'). It is something that Bob Weinstein wants to do. He tends to do what he wants to do. So I am inclined to think that there will be (another sequel). Whether I will be a part of it or not? I don't know. My contract gives me the first look. If they show me something that is really wonderful? Of course I will be a part of it.”

For now, though, locals who missed seeing Michigan on the big screen can see it on a small screen in their home, courtesy of "Scream 4" on DVD.

Is the DVD free to local residents? I mean, we already paid millions for it, right?

I'm going to rent it. My vehicle was on Lincoln when they did a drive by filming a car scene with two of the girls in a car on a trailer. Unless they edited it out I don't see how it won't be there in the movie. lol
