Cool websites for kids help make winter bearable

By Stefan Szumko

Got cabin fever yet? If you've got a child or few and an Internet connection, here are a few great educational websites that will not only entertain your entire family, but educate as well:

BrainPOP and BrainPOP Jr. have lots of short, educational animations. To get access to the full site, there is an annual fee (the family rate is $99 for BrainPOP and $75 for BrainPOP Jr.; $150 for both), but the number of free animations will provide a few hours of engaging education.

Edheads has a number of free online activities involving: simple machines, hip and knee surgery, design a cell phone, weather and more.

Math is Fun is a collection of free math-related games, puzzles, and other learning activities.

For these sites, younger children will require some adult assistance in accessing and navigating the activities. But older children can be plugged into these safe educational websites.

Feel free to share your kid-friendly, educational websites in the comments section below. We're always looking for new places to visit on the Internet.
