On Thursday, November 19, from 5:30-7:30pm, Ann Arbor's Pack 5 Cub Scouts will be hosting it's annual Pancake Supper at Eberwhite Elementary (800 Soule Blvd. Ann Arbor, MI 48103). In the coming days, Cub Scouts will be going door-to-door to sell tickets, which cost $8 for adults, $5 for children, and $25 for a family. Tickets will also be available at the door.

All proceeds go directly to Pack 5, which is comprised of boys in grades 1-5, from Bach and Eberwhite Elementary Schools, to provide scholarships for scouts to attend summer camp and help defray costs of pack expenses. Epicureans (food eaters) from neighborhoods outside of the Bach/Eberwhite districts are invited to attend.

Should diners desire new reading material before, during, or after their exquisite culinary experience, the Eberwhite Fall Scholastic Book Sale will be occurring concurrently. Books for humans of all ages will be available. It is to be noted that pancakes are not recommended for use as bookmarks.

Please bring your appetites for all-you-care-to-eat pancakes, ham, apple sauce, and beverage (coffee, juice, and milk) will complete the meal.

Because the technology exists, here is the word "pancake" in other languages (courtesy of Google Translate http://translate.google.com):

panqueque - Spanish 煎饼 - Chinese Pfannkuchen - German блин - Russian, Ukranian Blynai - Lithuanian crêpes - French pannenkoek - Dutch فطيرة - Arabic פנקייק - Hebrew मालपुआ - Hindi แพนเค้ก - Thai naleśnik - Polish palačinka - Czech crempog - Welsh pandekage - Danish

Anecdotal evidence suggests that the young men of Pack 5 have been serving pancakes and bussing tables since the 1960s. Investigation is ongoing. Should you recall any information about when these doughy discs first decked the halls of Eberwhite Elementary, please contact the Pack 5 Cubmaster, Stefan Szumko, at slugwhisperer@gmail.com.

This is a phenomenally fun family event! We have gone for a number of years (even before our son became involved in cub scouts), and this year should be no exception. Yay pancakes!
