Administrative changes at Performance Network
The board and executive staff of Performance Network recently decided to adopt a dual management structure common to professional theaters, the theater said in a press release.
Moving forward, an artistic director and a managing director will lead the non-profit organization. The position of executive director will thus be eliminated, and Carla Milarch, who currently holds that title, will move to a new position as associate artistic director.
Artistic director David Wolber will maintain that role, assuming responsibility for all artistic and technical programs. A managing director will be hired to take responsibility for marketing, development, financial management oversight, and general business operations.
Milarch's new role will support the core programming of the professional season while assuming responsibility for literary management and the oversight for PNT’s ancillary programs (including the Fireside Festival, The Mosh Pit series, the Children’s Theatre Network, and all education and outreach programs). In addition to her new duties, her position of associate artistic director will also mark Milarch’s return to regular artistic participation as a director, sound designer, and actress, for which she has won numerous awards.
“I’m looking forward to working with Carla as her participation with our programming increases," Wolber said in the press release. "We’ve been working together for years, as staff members and as artists, so it’s exciting to think about what we’ll be able to accomplish together: more great theater, no doubt, as well as increased educational outreach and artist development programs.”
“Board and staff are united in their belief that this will provide for exciting growth and sustainability in artistic programming as we head into the next 30 years.” said board president Ron Maurer in the same release.
Performance Network Theatre will begin its search for a managing director immediately. Milarch will serve as interim managing director until the position is filled.
