Local record label Ghostly International introduces iPhone app
Since its inception in 1999, Ann Arbor-based record label Ghostly International has taken a vanguard approach, releasing music unencumbered by such restrictions as established genres and geographic location. This sense of innovation is reimagined with the launch of the Ghostly Discovery iPhone app, developed by Ghostly International in collaboration with experience design firm o2 Creative Solutions.
The app — available free at iTunes — features the Ghostly International and (dance-oriented offshoot label) Spectral Sound catalogues in streaming audio format, presented as a mood-based radio station. By adjusting the "mood" wheel and the "digital/organic" and "faster/slower" sliders, Discovery selects music from the Ghostly and Spectral catalogs, creating a playlist tailor-made to reflect the listener's mood.

Discovery doesn't end there — the app allows users to save favorite songs and playlists, share them via the Discovery website, and purchase them directly from the app via iTunes. Plus, users can browse Discovery for information about Ghostly and Spectral artists, a roster of about fifty performers, including Matthew Dear, School of Seven Bells, and Kate Simko.
