By AnnArbor.com Staff

Here's an introduction to the acts appearing Sunday, July 4 at Top of the Park — the Ann Arbor Summer Festival's free, outdoor component, held outside the Rackham Building, on East Washington Street at Ingalls Mall.

Today at 4 p.m. is the third in the series of "Acoustic Cafe Live @ Top of the Park" radio tapings. The KidZone Tent is open from 5-8 p.m.

A special attraction today: The Craz-E-Crew Stunt Team performs at 5 and 7 p.m.

The night's headline attractions:

Red Sea Pedestrians Rackham Stage, 5:30 p.m.

The Red Sea Pedestrians are a one-of-a-kind, full-blown, instrument-swapping fusion between tradition and the here-and-now. We're talkin' high-energy world-beat grooves, hypnotic laments from the earth, songs of celebration and wonder: a warped and beautiful blend of Klezmer, Greek, Gypsy, Celtic, Jazz and American Roots, all filtered through the band's original vision.

Performing since: 2006 Home base: Kalamazoo Style of music: "World-Roots," jazz, American roots Members: Ira Cohen, Rachel Flanigan, Jay Gavan, Ian Gorman, Michael Shimmin, Cori Somers Pre-show ritual: A combination of bad jokes, baseball statistics, and random historical trivia. Favorite road food: Usually whatever the venue is kind enough to provide for us :) Otherwise, Jimmy John's and the local coffee shop. Desert island disc: In a six-person band, that could be up for serious debate, but right now I'd say we're hooked on "Sleepytime in Chinatown" by The Stolen Sweets. Best thing about Ann Arbor: Open-mindedness, local pride, and artistic loyalty of the people.

Twistin' Tarantulas Rackham Stage, 7:45 p.m.

This is no 1950’s dog-n-pony show; when they do cover songs, expect the unexpected. On a given night, you'll hear Tom Waits, Bauhaus, Misfits, Motörhead, Tom Jones, Ramones, and even Kiss. Playing a hybrid of jump-blues and rockabilly with a modern punk edge, they avoid many of the cliché associated with rockabilly bands. Musically, the band journeys across the American musical landscape in addition to playing mostly their original material.

Performing since: 1993 Home base: Detroit Style of music: Rockabilly/jump blues Members: "Pistol" Pete Midtgard, upright bass/ lead vocal; George Friend, guitar/ vocal; Randy Gacki, drums Pre-show ritual: Avoid each-other at all costs. (We've been together 17 years!) Favorite road food: Southern/soul food, recommended by locals. Desert island disc: Cannonball Adderley "Something Else" Best thing about Ann Arbor: The high ratio of "givers" to "takers" (or: thoughtful/caring trumps selfish/intolerant).

Twistin' Tarantulas performing live in Detroit last month:

Movie: "Raiders of the Lost Ark" (1981, PG-13, 95 minutes) Ingalls Mall, 10 p.m.

The now-classic that introduced Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones. The story of an archeologist who is hired by the U.S. government to find the Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis turns into an epic adventure filled with kidnappings, secret traps, and the dreaded snake pit.
