Locally filmed "Conviction" releases trailer; Rob Reiner's "Flipped" has new poster

By Jenn McKee

At the start of 2009, locals were abuzz with talk about Hilary Swank, Sam Rockwell, Minnie Driver, Peter Gallagher, and Juliette Lewis being in town for a feature film that was, at the time, called "Betty Anne Waters."

Recently re-titled "Conviction," the movie now has a trailer available online.

There's also a new poster image for the film.

The film is based on the true story of a single mom who, after her brother is jailed for murder, works to earn her G.E.D., bachelor's degree and law degree in order to work for his release. Tony Goldwyn is the film's director, and it's been tentatively slated for an October 15 release.

Meanwhile, a previous AnnArbor.com post about Rob Reiner's locally filmed feature "Flipped" featured that film's trailer, but poster art for the film recently surfaced online, too. Check it out at www.imdb.com.

Starring Aidan Quinn, Rebecca De Mornay, John Monaghan, Anthony Edwards, Penelope Ann Miller, and Morgan Lily, the film — based on a novel by Wendelin Van Draanen — tells the story of two eighth-graders who fall in love, despite being complete opposites, in the 1950s.

Reportedly, the tentative release date for "Flipped" is August 6.
