Twelve-year-old boy performs during Ann Arbor Art Fairs for charities
Ever wonder what street musicians do with the money people drop in their open guitar cases?

Henry Abrams, 12, enjoys performing on the street during the Art Fairs because it's a way for him to raise money for causes he supports.

Abrams, a Tappan Middle School student, has played his guitar in the street during the Ann Arbor Art Fairs for a few years now. He sets up a stool next to his father's art fair booth located at Maynard and Liberty streets.
Abrams said he has played guitar for six and a half years, and gets better by practicing with his music teacher. He said he likes the Art Fairs because it gives him another place to perform.
"I just thought it'd be pretty cool to play guitar in front of people besides the concerts I play sometimes with my teacher," Abrams said.
But what's most important for Abrams is how he can help the community by donating the money he earns. Last year he donated his proceeds to the Michigan SASHA Farm, which is a sanctuary for rescued animals.
"I donated my money to SASHA Farm to help animals because my family is vegetarian and we believe in animal rights a lot," Abrams said.
This year Abrams said he plans to donate to the local homeless shelter, and hopes to keep performing at the art fair for years to come.
"I think I'll do this until I get too old," Abrams said.

I also saw a young girl playing her violin down on Main St during the Art Fair. On her case it said she was raising $ for Mott Children's Hospital. She was pretty good!
