What are the top literary fistfights?
News of the recent literary beat-down reported in Ann Arbor made it all the way across the pond and drew the attention of the Books Blog for the Guardian, the respected English news outlet.
Guardian books writer Sam Jordison spoke on the phone to AnnArbor.com's intrepid police reporter, Kyle Feldscher, who noted that a so-far-unconfirmed rumor identifies the specific topic of the dispute as the relative merits of fantasy authors J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis.
In a very entertaining post, the Guardian writer has some fun with the idea of literary arguments — and then asks the post's readers to weigh in as well. Which they do, heartily.
The entire post, comments and all, is well worth a read; find it here on the Guardian website.
And FYI, Kyle promises to follow up if we can ever confirm the subject of the initial dispute.

What are you talking about? Your story has no point to those not on the inside.
