An Ypsilanti man and his girlfriend appeared on cable TV on Valentine's Day as part of a salute to the troops—but he added an extra twist when he proposed marriage as part of the appearance.

David Butzin, himself an Air Force 1st lieutenant, and Rosaly Aponte went on the HLN network (formerly CNN's Headline News) as part of a "Salute the Troops" project; both have relatives in the military.

But after making their statements of support, Butzin pulled out a ring box and got down on one knee.

Watch the full appearance—including Aponte's answer—here:

Guys? The rank is "1st Lieutenant," not "Lieutenant First Class."
