Ann Arbor Huron High graduate killed in murder-suicide in Jackson County after deciding to leave her husband, police say

By AnnArbor.com Staff

When 29-year-old Barbara Wilson failed to show up for work at Ann Arbor’s Malloy Lithographing Inc. on Sunday night, employees became concerned, the Jackson Citizen-Patriot reported.

They asked sheriff's deputies to check her home in Jackson County's Summit Township. Deputies found the bodies of Barbara Wilson and her husband, 34-year-old Jason Wilson, the Citizen-Patriot reported.

Jackson County sheriff's officials say Jason Wilson strangled his wife and then hanged himself.

Barbara Wilson graduated in 1999 from Huron High School in Ann Arbor and had worked for Malloy, which prints and binds books, since 2000. The company told the Citizen-Patriot she had been a full-time employee since 2002 and worked the third shift as a bindery operator.

Jason Wilson’s friends and family said Barbara Wilson decided to leave him, and the news crushed him, according to the Citizen-Patriot. They had been married since April 2009.

According to the Citizen-Patriot, deputies were called to the couple’s Hillside Avenue home for a verbal dispute between the two on Nov. 16, and Jason Wilson was taken from the home for an evaluation because of remarks he made.

Visitation for Barbara Wilson will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Nie Family Funeral Home, 2400 Carpenter Road. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1400 W. Stadium Blvd.

condolences to the family question, at what point do you not refer to a graduate of a high school? when i read the headline, i was expecting to read about an 18-20(?) year old and not a 29 year old.

Once again the "related articles" have NOTHING to do with this and only add a sense of "what the heck" to reading annarbor.com. I wonder how the family feels about the annarbor.com stating that a murder in Ypsilanti were "related" to this tragic death.

Stories like this break my heart. Women, and men, please learn something from this. If there is abuse in the relationship, just leave. Do not say that you're leaving, do not try to work it out, pack your things when they are not there and get out of the situation. Better yet, have your dad or brother help you. Abuse can take many forms, please do not let your love for someone get in the way of your safety. Offenders do not usually change. Here is a link from michigan.gov. Perhaps it can be included in the article, someone may need it. http://www.michigan.gov/dhs/0,1607,7-124-5460_7261---,00.html My sincere condolences to the family. Such a sad story.

This is very sad. I don't really understand why people feel a need to kill one who's leaving them.
