Well, anti-thug, I grew up on the north side and I can tell you that crime occurs there! (I think as a child, I may have even committed some....) And, even though I grew up on the north side (as did my husband) I identify myself as an "East Ann Arborite". East Ann Arborites are the real Ann Arborites, BTW.;) Can you really say there aren't some "bad" pockets on the north side? I don't want to name names because I am close to too many people in all of these areas and hate to see any neighborhood where so many good people live targeted as being entirely bad, but think about it....they exist. And, even in the "good" neighborhoods, bad people and crime exist. (Ssshhh, even in Ann Arbor....)(on your side of town)

Hhhhmmm. Stonybrook, where the barbecue/party and the shooting of Tamara took place, is quite a ways from the SW corner of Packard and Platt. The neighborhood around Pilgrim Park is a pretty nice neighborhood. There are always going to be isolated incidents of crime anywhere in A2. Well, nothing going on on what my kids are now calling "Lockdown Thursdays"? After reading the Ann Arbor Observer article and seeing how many medicinal marijuana clinics are located along the Packard corridor, I'm wondering why just the banks are being targeted.(Not that I want these incidents occurring anywhere...)

My daughter lives close to where this happened. When she called the Police to find out what was happening, the person who answered the phone would not tell her anything except that she was in no immediate danger. THIS IS WRONG. She had every right to know why there were markers on the ground, and detectives were investigating. Indeed, some of the crime scene tape was attached to one of her trees! Yes, this is usually a very quiet and safe place to live; but when something does happen, neighbors (especially close neighbors) should know EXACTLY what is going on. Was the person just shooting into the air? Was he or she targeting a specific house? Where did they find the bullets and/or bullet holes?

Scary. We just moved out of that neighborhood last year. It was always pleasant and quiet. I used to walk my daughter by there all the time. And @ jns131, yes, there is a nice little park near the intersection of Marshall and Verle.

Guns don't shoot guns, people shoot guns.

I guess they figured they had given up with the banks and decided to go in another direction? Another quiet week in Ann Arbor. Can't wait to see how Thursday goes. There are quite a few houses in that area. Very dense and quiet. There is a park there too if I remember correctly.
